Ilocos, Baguio & Manila

Six days across the whole of the north

This is the long version — Ilocos, the Cordillera and the capital in one loop, and the itinerary groups pick when they would rather not choose between them.

It opens in Vigan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999 and the finest surviving Spanish colonial town in Asia, then pushes north through Ilocos Norte: Paoay Church, UNESCO-listed and completed in 1710; the Bangui wind farm above the bay; the bleached rock of Kapurpurawan; and the La Paz sand dunes, where the 4x4s and ATVs run.

From the coast the road climbs into the pines to Baguio, roughly 1,500 metres up and cool enough to need a jacket at night — Burnham Park, Mines View, the markets of a city named a UNESCO Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art in 2017.

It ends in Manila: Intramuros, San Agustín Church — the oldest stone church in the country and UNESCO-listed in its own right — and the National Museum complex on Rizal Park, free to enter since 2016.

Six days, three regions, one coach and one Tierra de Ibalon coordinator from departure to return.
